Administration on Aging (AoA)
AOA is part of the Department of Health & Human Services, administers and funds programs and services for older people. The web site has a wealth of information, including government policy updates, fact sheets, health information, resources.

Census Bureau
The US Census Bureau goal is to provide the best mix of timeliness, relevancy, quality, and cost for the data collected and services provided. This web site has statistics on population, economics, housing, etc. See "Aging" or "Population" in "Subjects A to Z."

U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Aging Initiative has developed fact sheets that outline simple and important preventative steps to reduce exposure to environmental hazards and protect one’s health and has created an awards program to recognize counties, municipalities and tribes for their efforts to promote livable communities for all ages.

Food and Drug Administration (FDA)
Provides information on medications, health care and nutrition, as well as other information geared specifically toward older people.

National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS)
Has statistical information including average life expectancy and causes of death.

National Institute on Aging
One of the National Institutes of Health, the National Institute on Aging conducts and funds biomedical, social and behavioral research. It also has some health information available online.

Social Security Administration
Social Security Online has numerous online resources that will help you understand the current program and to frame the discussions of the future of Social Security. For over 65 years, the Social Security program has been the most successful domestic government program, providing economic protection for Americans of all ages.  Go Direct is a campaign sponsored by the Dept. of the Treasury and the Federal Reserve to encourage people to take advantage of directly depositing their Social Security and SSI checks, rather than receiving an actual paper check. Direct deposit is cheaper for the government, plus it cuts down on fraud and theft.

Goal is to provide excellence in patient care, veterans' benefits and customer satisfaction.

Alliance for Aging Research
The nation's leading non-profit organization dedicated to improving the health and independence of Americans as they age through public and private funding of medical research and geriatric education.

Alzheimer’s Association
The Alzheimer’s Association, a national network of chapters, is the largest national voluntary health organization committed to finding a cure for Alzheimer’s and helping those affected by the disease.

American Federation For Aging Research (AFAR)
The American Federation for Aging Research (AFAR) has helped scientists begin and further careers in aging research and geriatric medicine. Mission is to promote healthier aging through biomedical research.

American Society on Aging (ASA)
Thousands of professionals throughout the country rely on the American Society on Aging to keep them on the cutting edge in an aging society. Through renowned educational programming, outstanding publications and state-of-the-art information and training resources, ASA members tap into the knowledge and experience of the largest network of professionals in the field.

The National Academy on an Aging Society
A policy institute of The Gerontological Society of America with a mission to promote innovative and responsible thinking on issues arising from the aging of our society.

National Association of State Units on Aging
The National Association of State Units on Aging was founded in 1964 as a national non-profit membership organization comprised of the 57 state and territorial government agencies on aging.

National Council on the Aging (NCOA)
NCOA is the nation's first association of organizations and professionals dedicated to promoting the dignity, self-determination, well being, and contributions of older persons.

Duke Long Term Care Resources Program
Part of the Duke Center for the Study of Aging and Human Development was created in 1988 with generous support from the Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust. The goal of the program is the enhancement of effective long-term care policy and service Development in the interest of vulnerable adults and their families.

International Longevity Center

FirstGov for Seniors
One of several projects created at the direction of the National Partnership for Reinventing Government (NPRG). The Social Security Administration (SSA) agreed to create, host and maintain FirstGov for Seniors as a service especially geared toward senior citizens.
